Weekly Update - Starslinger Kings gets new inputs, new missiles, new sniper rifles!

Category: Starslinger Kings Dev Log

Howdy wreckers, welcome to the Monday weekly update! (On a Thursday, because I suck). Today I've got a lot of cool Starslinger Kings development progress to show off. We're going to be playing catch up, because I did a few months of development before I started these updates, so we've got a bit of a backlog to dive into.

Starslinger Kings Devlog 04 - Finding the look for our game's hero

Category: Starslinger Kings Dev Log

Today's post is all about how I took a piece of concept art and turned it into game art for Starslinger Kings - and it's a trickier process than you might imagine. The game's hero is going to be the most seen piece of art in the game afterall, you've got to get them right.

Starslinger Kings DevLog 03 - Robot Chop Shop

Category: Starslinger Kings Dev Log

Matt here. Today I'll talk about how I solved a issue on SSK, and not a code or game design related one. Todays problem comes down the character concept art, before we even started the character code (not entirely true, but go with me).

Starslinger Kings DevLog 01 - Custom Robo building = LOTS of art assets

Category: Starslinger Kings Dev Log

Starslinger Kings the Musical

Category: Starslinger Kings Dev Log

So for this project we have our good friend Jamie doing the music. The game only really need 2 songs at this point, as the game jam competition is only asking for a prototype. Our game runs as a survival mode but after the comp, turn into a shooting adventure.

Anyway, that's not important. The music is important! Song number 1 is the menu music in all it glory:

Starslinger Kings: Barreller

Category: Starslinger Kings Dev Log

What the hell is a Barreller? Well, a Barreller is when you make a robot with legs, strap your typical exploding barrel to its back and send it in the general direction of people you don't like. Barreller is the first enemy in Starslinger Kings and is literally a suicide bomber. The aim is to gun him down before he explodes on your face.
